CONCRETE Indoor Concrete Design & Installation

Indoor Design & Installation

It has become the new material of choice for designers and homeowners across the United States. Concrete floors and countertops in stained, colored, painted, and personalized glory are popping up in retail stores, trendy restaurants, offices, and homes everywhere. Concrete offers numerous options for interior rooms including nearly limitless designs, colors, and even health benefits.

There is a number of reasons why concrete is a popular material for concrete (or cement) floors and countertops:

  • Concrete enhances the integrity of architect’s designs.
  • Concrete Counter Tops
  • Concrete easy to maintain.

Concrete Floors

One of the most common places you’ll see decorative concrete these days is under your feet. Whether it’s acid-stained, painted, overlays, microtoppings, radiant floors, or a unique personal floor, concrete floors offer a range unlike any other material.

Concrete flooring, sometimes referred to as cement flooring, no longer has to be gray and boring. Now coloring concrete, or applying textures, patterns, saw cuts, etc., can bring new life to this traditional substrate. Concrete can be so uniquely designed or so naturally colored that it blends seamlessly with other elements in a room–oftentimes, you don’t even realize it’s a concrete floor you’re standing on!

Concrete Counter Tops

It’s well known by now that concrete has become a material that homeowners and designers are requesting and weaving into their homes, offices, retail outlets, restaurants, etc., in the most amazing ways. But leading the charge in the concrete craze are concrete countertops.

Concrete countertops are a warm natural looking material that corresponds with the popularity of more natural materials like wood, stone, and brick.

Chemical stains, coloring pigments, various aggregates, and epoxy coatings can give concrete the look, texture, and feel of quarried stone such as marble, granite, and limestone.

Concrete Fireplaces & Sinks

Fireplaces

The fireplace and fireplace surround serve as the centerpiece of a room, both visually and socially. Family and guests inevitably gravitate to this soothing, flickering backdrop for conversation and mingling. Beautiful concrete fireplace mantels or a fireplace surround provide an eye-catching focal point. If properly designed, the fireplace mantel shelf or fireplace surround can serve as a worthy substitute for any work of art.

Sinks

Many homeowners and designers are finding that concrete sinks are a perfect fit for achieving distinctive-looking basins. Because concrete can be poured to shape any form, concrete fits the bill for any type of sink imaginable.

Whether it’s square, rectangular, oval, round, or integral, concrete can be shaped to blend into any decor and style. Concrete sinks, vanities and pedestals, marked by the elegance of deep colors and strong, clean lines, add drama, style and grace to any bathroom or powder room.

Repair and Replace

While concrete cracks appear to be typical, it is best that people understand them. Most homeowners best identify concrete cracks in their basement, either on the foundation wall or on the floor. They may also recognize cracks on the garage floor, patio or in-ground pool. Concrete cracks that remain tight and have not spread, and have no elevation change from one side to the other can be sealed or left alone.

These cracks, typically due to drying shrinkage, thermal movement or other causes usually are minor and result in few problems.

For the repair of concrete floor cracks, certain epoxies and polyurea materials exists, suitable for such slab repairs. It is important to remember that sealing cracks should be done from the wet side which would be the outside of a basement wall, or the top of a driveway, sidewalk, patio, garage, or pool deck.

The application of such materials may be completed by a contractor or a do-it-yourself homeowner. Either way, the sealing of concrete cracks in either the foundation or the slab may efficiently and effectively be completed in as little as an hour or more.
